Invisalign: Logan Utah Dental Services
Invisalign is a series of custom-made aligners for straightening teeth. It is one of the more modern approaches in treating dental issues, in a sense that you can remove them anytime-so you can eat, brush and floss, just like before. Invisalign is made of a comfortable and nearly-invisible plastic, so no one would ever realize that you’re actually wearing them to fix your teeth. They are also very affordable and take little effort to wear, so you can have that perfect smile you’ve always wanted.
What is the difference between Invisalign and traditional braces?
Invisalign is made out of smooth and clear plastic that is less likely to irritate your cheeks and gums, unlike the traditional wire and bracket braces. You can also remove the device when you eat, brush or floss, allowing you to enjoy eating your food more and brush or take care of your teeth better. Invisalign is also easier to wear, since they are nearly-invisible, and wouldn’t cause too much discomfort on the user, especially on young adults or teenagers.
What are the advantages of Invisalign?
Invisalign effectively fixes dental issues such as spaced, crowded, overbite, underbite or crossbite teeth. It effectively aligns your teeth to prevent gum or teeth problems which are caused by crowded or over spaced teeth. Invisalign are also easier to clean than dental braces. You just have to remove them when not in use, clean them and your teeth before hand, and you can pop them right back in. Invisalign also takes less maintenance than traditional braces. You’d only need to visit the dentist every four to six weeks for checkups.
The Invisalign Procedure
Installation of the Invisalign usually begins with a consultation with our dentist, followed by fitting, treatment, checkups and the end results.
- Consultation – You’ll begin the process by talking with our Invisalign specialist to see if you are the right candidate for the aligners, and how long your treatment process would take. The doctor will perform a few checkups on your teeth and once you’ve agreed on the product and the payment method, you’ll be ready for x-rays and fittings.
- X-ray & Fitting – Your doctor will take X-ray pictures of your teeth and use them to create treatment plans. He would then be able to show you a virtual presentation of this treatment process and after this, custom-made teeth aligners will be created based on your x-rays and fitted onto your teeth. Once you’re comfortable with the fit, you can begin using the device.
- Treatment & Checkups – Every two weeks, you will wear a new set of aligners for your teeth. Each one made to gradually straighten your smile according to your treatment process. You just need to come back for checkups every four to six weeks. You are advised to wear the device for 20 to 22 hours a day.
How do I maintain my Invisalign aligners?
Aside from the checkups, one needs to make sure to wear the aligners on their teeth at all times, except when eating, brushing or flossing. You also need to keep the aligner clean, by washing it right before you put it back on-including your teeth, every time you take it off. Wearing Invisalign needs a lot of patience. Unlike dental braces, which are firmly attached to your teeth, you can easily remove Invisalign-so you need to train yourself to get used to wearing the aligner so your teeth remain in place.
How much will it cost me?
Invisalign is quite affordable, with one series of aligners being around $3,000-$5,000, which is the same with traditional dental braces, but more comfortable and easier to use.
